This spell functions like alter self, except that you change the willing subject into another form of living creature.

So... this reminds me of another question......
For a 7-level wizard, the Enlarged Fireball has a range of (400+280)*2=1360 ft, but rarely anyone can see that far(the best view range is, say, about 800ft on a fine weather). So can a wizard use fireball to attack a foe 1300 ft away? Likewise, the range of Longbow is about 120ft(may not be accurate), so a Far-shot Longbower can shoot as much as 15 multiple that number(-about 20 or so). If he cannot see, can he shoot that far?
And, with the help like Clairvoyance or Arcane Eye, can a wizard shoot a fireball to a place that he can not normally see?
-
Clairvoyance / arcane eye do help.
One can see distances of several thousands ft. under certain conditions. However, the complication handling battles of large scales prevents most DMs from letting out these conditions.

Sorry, but your anwser if wrong.
line of sight: Two creatures can see each other if they have line
of sight to each other. To determine line of sight, draw an imaginary
line between your space and the target’s space. If any such line is
clear (not blocked), then you have line of sight to the creature (and it
has line of sight to you). The line is clear if it doesn’t intersect or
even touch squares that block line of sight. If you can’t see the target
(for instance, if you’re blind or the target is invisible), you can’t have
line of sight to it even if you could draw an unblocked line between
your space and the target’s
You probably won't have line of sight to someone under your Scrying or Clairvoyance spell since the line is drawn between your space and the creature, not between your spell effect's space and the creature.

When you aim an area spell, you must choose a point of origin (see Part One) for the spell. You must have line of effect to the point of origin you choose. If you cannot see the point of origin, you must specify the point of origin in some meaningful way. The best way to do so is select a distance and a direction from yourself or from another point of reference that you can see or touch (or that your DM agrees is well known to you). The point of origin for any area spell always must be an intersection of squares on the grid you use to regulate combat. This rule greatly simplifies the task of deciding exactly where the area extends. Once you choose the point of origin, the spell's area extends from there.
Even if you cast some spells that don't require line of sight, say a Web, you still need line of effect to your target, which is almost the same with line of sight and requries the line between your space and your point of origin is clear. Thus your being able to see somebody with divination spells doesn't necessarily mean you could strike your opponent from distant places.

Well, I thought it too obvious to worth mentioning that a physical straight line without obstacle is necessary for you to throw whatever thing towards the target. :em003
I should have said those spells MAY help, though, to be accurate.

The spells helps to increase the range for your line of sight... doesn't alter the line of effect... however an qoe spell you'd only need to see the target.
well personally i use spyglass.....
望遠鏡 is the key. tell your friend to hold the spyglass for you and you can shoot as far as you can see...
-

Wrong. You need line of effect too.
-
Line of sight determine casting
line of effect determine hitting....
so you can cast it!!! you do not need line of effect to cast your spell... EVER

Do I have to quote these words, AGAIN?
