关于The Master of Many Forms的变形规则

根据CA上该进阶职业的举例说明中：
Wild Shape (Su): Galatea can change into a Small,Medium, or Large animal, humanoid, or giant, and back again, as per the polymorph spell.

是不是可以理解为该进阶职业的变身规则是基于polymorph法书的呢？还是仍然像Druid那样基于alter self呢？

我感觉应该没有区别，但是为什么在官方的规则答疑上会有这么一句话呢：
One common character ability affected by the new rule for polymorphing is the druid's wild shape ability, which now works like the alternate form special quality instead of the polymorph spell.

这两者（alternate form and polymorph）到底有何区别呢？
