D&D 第四版的有力傳聞, 在 EN World 被轉載.

簡單點說似乎首要重點是延續 3e 的方向, 更著重能賺錢的模形, 並把書本拆得更散求能賺更多錢.

这已经是大概3个月之前的消息了，流传了好久。但是辟谣的也很多。

根据常理推断，DND 4E不可能在短时间发布。
原因如下：
一、WOTC如果要出版DND 4E，会提前许久和诸多出版商、游戏开发者透露相关消息。但目前没有任何人证实
二、WOTC目前的产品线仍然集中于DND 3.5E，一般而言，任何一版规则都会使用8-10年才会更新。看目前的状况，DND 3.5到现在没有几个年头。
三、WOTC在DND 3E的开发上花费了大约几百万刀，历经了三个年头……根据目前的情况，是不太可能有这样的计划在秘密执行的。

此外，如果有兴趣找找相关辟谣文章，你还会发现有一些著名的设计师对DND 3E的一些设计上的缺陷和优势进行了比较全面的评述，我觉得这是这条消息的唯一价值；P

规则出得过快不是好事啊！就跟字典似的，怎么也得“使用8-10年才会更新”

TRPG 最賣錢的是核心書藉, 這是當初 Wotc 開放 D20 的原因 - 只要你不賣核心, 你做甚麼擴展都可以.

規則出得多快, 在巫師眼中只是簡單的經濟方程式: 當市場調查顯示有利可圖的時候就會推出新版. 他們 97 年買了 TSR, 00 年出了 3, 03 年出了 3.5, 07 或 08 賣 4.0 也不為過. 不過我看骨灰都習慣了 AD&D 十年如一.

巫師在 3.0 已經想打模型的算盤, 因為模型好賺, 不過失敗了. 只是我也並不大相信他們真的會賣掉 D&D, 因為畢竟也有一點錢賺.

在 4.0 真正推出之前我相信它們會很積極的繼續出書... 如息所述, 上任負責人曾說他會在新版推出前給予一年通知, 但他已經離任.

他真的宣佈明年推出新版的話, 我鐵定固守或改投別的系統.

关于DND 4E

We got a chance to talk to D&D Associate Brand Manager, Kevin Wilson and other WotC officials today on the show floor about the future of D&D and the rampant rumors on a 4th edition. He did confirm that there is no work being done in the development of a 4th edition that would force players to use miniatures to play the game. We also confirmed with WotC staff that, at this time, no 4th edition product will be in

any Wizards of the Coast's product catalogs through 2007. This would seemingly put an actual product release sometime in 2008. Wizards of the Coast is working on all sorts of new 3.5 products that are not even on the current schedule yet so expect more 3.5 goodness for the next year and half. One such release is the Monster Gift Set which will feature all the current Monster Manuals in a gift pack at a reduced price. Another release which WotC would not confirm or deny is Monster Manual V. I have it from a good source to expect this next year. Kevin also mentioned that Wizards intends to utilize the history of the Brand more in future releases in both content and graphic treatment.
